#1 Comcast To Expand Streaming Service
Comcast is planning to roll out an IPTV streaming video service across its footprint targeting broadband subscribers who do not want to pay for a traditional cable package. Xfinity Instant TV is expected to be available in the third quarter to more than 50 million homes within Comcast's footprint.
WHY THIS MATTERS: The app-based service will be priced from $15-40 a month. It will include major broadcast networks as well as sports channels like ESPN and Spanish language channels such as Telemundo and Univision.

#2 Dreams Debuts TV Platform for Smartphones
Dreams, a Brooklyn-based startup, has launched a TV network/app tailored for for Android and iOS smartphones that features a swipe-based interface along with content that has been converted or developed natively to fit the vertical viewing format.
WHY THIS MATTERS: The idea is to offer a free, ad-supported service that starts to feed video once the app is open, without logins or any added friction, and to deliver an experience that’s as simple as turning on a traditional TV.

#3 Imax and Warner Bros. Form VR Production Pact
Warner Bros. and Imax have signed a co-financing and production agreement that will create three interactive VR experiences based on upcoming Warner Bros. releases, including Justice League and Aquaman, and a third, yet-to-be announced, project.
WHY THIS MATTERS: For Imax, the push into virtual reality represents a chance to diversify its business. As studios look for fresh revenue streams, virtual reality may prove to be an easier means of making money with exhibition than any controversial premium VOD window.
