Remember Me: A Conversation15 Years in the MakingWed., Sept 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m Red River Theatres

For 17 years, Preston Gannaway has been photographing EJ and Rich St. Pierre. The Remember Me series, now a forthcoming photobook, began when Gannaway and Chelsea Conaboy were young journalists at the Concord Monitor. For nearly two years, they intimately chronicled the St. Pierres as they struggled to cope with a parent’s terminal illness. Carolynne St. Pierre, a maternity nurse at Concord Hospital, died in February 2007. The work was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for feature photography the following year.
Gannaway stayed in touch with family. EJ — Carolynne and Rich’s youngest son who had been four years-old when Carolynne died — became the focus of the project. Remember
Me spans Gannaway’s time with the family. Images of everyday details, landscapes and portraits collectively create a longitudinal essay on the impermanence of the human experience.

Please join us on Wed., Sept. 13, as writer Chelsea Conaboy leads a discussion between Preston and the St. Pierres about their on-going project. This special event organized for the Concord community will be a powerful exploration into the intersections between storyteller, subject and audience. We hope the evening will highlight the resiliency of survivors and be a testament to the deep relationships that can evolve from community journalism.
Tickets: The event is Wed., Sept 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Red River Theatres. There will be a book signing in the Red River Theatres lobby following the event. Tickets are $10 and are available only
at redrivertheatres.org. Anyone who cannot afford the cost of a ticket can contact info@redrivertheatres.org. A limited number of free tickets are available. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Concord Regional Technical Center's high school nursing program.
