Earlier this week I asked you about your favorite movie soundtracks. Not only did I learn that you had great taste, but a lot of you gave me some great ideas of soundtracks to listen to. Here’s what you said. (The following have been lightly edited for length, clarity and style.)
Leah wrote, “'The Holiday.’ Hands down.” She also mentioned her favorite composer, “Ennio Morricone is brilliant.”
Although it’s not her favorite movie, Christie loves the soundtrack to "Children of Dune.”
Rachel loves old-school movies. She said, “My favorites are ‘The Thomas Crowne Affair’ — the original with Steve McQueen (1968) and The Italian Job — again the original, with Michael Caine (1969). Really any soundtrack by Quincy Jones or Henry Mancini is delightful!”
Bill said “The Last of the Mohicans” is his favorite movie score. "With a crescendo of the music fitting the action of the screen, its dramatic impact is distinct and exciting.”
Marie also loves the classics. Her favorites are “Chariots of Fire,” “Phantom of the Opera” and “The Sound of Music.” I agree that Julie Andrews’ voice is truly effortless.
And if I can have one final say, if you’ve never watched “An American in Paris,” you absolutely should. The soundtrack and dancing are spectacular.
Utah, New Jersey first ladies tour Sacred Circle, talk about infant and maternal care
First Lady Abby Cox and New Jersey First Lady Tammy Snyder Murphy sat in a circle this week with healthcare providers from different agencies at Sacred Circle, and they listened to the challenges they faced giving maternal and infant care. The providers cited a long list of struggles including how difficult it can be to get mental healthcare to patients, nutritional issues and inadequate housing. An overarching theme was that they were maxed out and needed assistance.
This event took place as part of the National Governors Association meeting taking place in Utah this week. The association seeks to set aside bipartisan quarrels and focus on finding solutions that can be applied to other states. The listening tour was created to help Cox and Murphy understand the barriers many Americans face.
