The airline industry, represented by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has set itself a target of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050, in line with the Paris agreement. But now it is time for ICAO member states to agree on a long-term aspirational goal, giving the industry planning certainty, among others for investment decisions.
