Before the war started in Ukraine, Iryna and Kyrylo Yeremenko described themselves as "a normal, happy family." Their 14–year old son, Maksym, attended school and played soccer. Alisa, their 6–year old daughter, loved gymnastics. But the family was forced to flee their home after a missile struck close to their house in Kharkiv, Ukraine, upending their lives and causing them to abandon most of their belongings. They longed for their family to be safe. After signing up on the Welcome Connect platform, the Yeremenkos directly connected with Abby and Ben Teigland in Kansas City, Missouri. What started out as a sponsorship turned into a beautiful friendship. The Yeremenkos safely arrived in Kansas City, and have already started rebuilding their lives again. "We have found new friends, and hope we’ve found ourselves a new and safe life."— Kyrylo Yeremenko. Right now, there are thousands of Ukrainian families—like the Yeremenkos—who have had to flee their homes. As a sponsor (or sponsoring group), you have the opportunity to directly connect with a Ukrainian family, offer them a pathway to safety, and help them settle into their new community in the U.S. Sign up on Welcome Connect to get more information on sponsorship, access to free resources, and to start building a profile to connect with a Ukrainian family. |

Be a Bridge to Safety. Here's How: Through the Uniting for Ukraine program, Ukrainians are able to travel to United States to find safety if they have an American sponsor. As a sponsor, you are a Ukrainian family's lifeline in the U.S., walking alongside of them. From greeting a family at the airport to helping them find a job, you (and your church) have the opportunity to tangibly show love through sponsorship. On the Welcome Connect platform, you can build a profile, and make yourself viewable to Ukrainians seeking a sponsor. You can then receive messages from Ukrainians, and determine if you want to send a formal request of sponsorship. Registering doesn't mean you've committed to sponsorship. You decide if and when it's right for you. Will you register on Welcome Connect today, and join the Welcomers stepping forward as potential sponsors—and changing lives? We are here to support you every step of the way with resources, application help, and more. Thank you for considering becoming a sponsor. We're in this together. God bless, The Welcome Corps Team |
