Convenience stores saw record sales in stores in 2023, according to newly released data. Total convenience industry sales in 2023 were $859.8 billion and average basket size increased 3.7% to $7.80.

So we asked:
Are we only going to see convenience sales continue to grow?

That’s because it’s less expensive to buy a rack at the Circle K than to walk into Publix. The prices keep going up and there seems to be no end in sight. Are the grocers sending extra coupons or giving back a point? No, they’re not. Soon we’ll all be shopping at Mobile for hot dogs and tissue paper.

Yes, I believe convenience will survive BUT they must have a plan that continues to meet their customers needs. They must be mindful of the impact of inflation.
