In addition to these weekly updates, you can sign up to receive other issue-specific newsletters here. Also, please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!
Connecting Americans to Success
Access to the internet is essential for families and businesses across South Carolina, yet more than 650,000 people lack adequate connectivity in our state. My friend and colleague, Senator Graham, and I are working to close that gap and connect all Americans to success.
Last week, we reintroduced the State Fix Act to provide funding for broadband infrastructure in communities with little to no internet access. By enabling folks to take classes, start a business, or search for a job online, this bill will ensure every American has the tools they need to reach their full potential. You can read more about it here.
Remembering Officer Billy Evans
Last Friday, Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans passed away after an attacker drove his car into the security barricade. Like many across the nation, I was shocked and saddened by this crime that took the life of one officer and injured another. Following the incident, I joined Fox News to discuss my gratitude for Capitol Police, what Congress must do to ensure the safety of all Americans, and more. You can watch or read about the interview here.
This Easter weekend, as we reflected on the death and resurrection of Christ, I was reminded of John 15:13, which says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Officer Evans and all our brave Americans in uniform have demonstrated that ultimate love. Please join me in thanking a law enforcement officer, veteran, or first responder for their bravery and sacrifices.
Sincerely,
|
