Construction industry struggling to find workers

The shrinking labor pool has frustrated hiring managers across economic sectors, but the hard-hit construction industry is being hammered by a number of factors that keep the worker supply low. An initiative is underway now to bolster the pipeline by reaching out to young people before they settle on another profession.

Clemson’s first downtown hotel coming to life

A boutique hotel is rising from the ground in a tight spot on Clemson’s College Avenue. Mashburn Construction is working on the 67-room Shepherd Hotel on a small lot downtown after breaking ground on the project in November.

Public meeting scheduled for South Downtown Master Plan

A public meeting for Greenville’s “South Downtown Master Plan” is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at McMillan Pazdan Smith, 400 Augusta St., Suite 200. The goal is to create urban design standards for an area roughly bounded by Augusta and Church streets, including the Haynie-Sirrine neighborhood. Find out more here.
