Contractor indicted: The owner of a building-inspection firm with lucrative city contracts has been indicted over an alleged fraud and bribery scheme that involved gifts to Mayor LaToya Cantrell. James Finn has the story.
An end to the consent decree? The city and the U.S. Justice Department agree the NOPD has not yet fully complied with the federal consent decree its been under for a dozen years. But they've filed a joint motion in federal court saying the department has come far enough to begin charting its exit from court oversight. John Simerman has the details.
Port appointment: Gov. Jeff Landry has appointed the personal attorney of one of his closest backers as chairperson of the Port of New Orleans, once again placing an ally in leadership role of a key commission. Tony McAuley has this report.
