Hi John,

Two high profile departures in the telecoms space, one openly forced with a good chance the other was too, dominated the news late yesterday. The departures come at a time of flux in the industry with emergence of wireless placing pressure on fixed line networks.

Telstra chief operations officer Kate McKenzie is leaving the telco after 12-years in the job and in the wake of a raft of network outages which have plagued the dominant telco this year. McKenzie was often the public face for the telco during the network problems and her departure comes as CEO Andy Penn continues to shake up the telco with changes in its executive ranks.

Meanwhile, Ericsson CEO Hans Vestberg has been axed, ‘effective immediately’ with interim CEO Jan Fryhammer taking on the role ‘until search is successfully complete.’ The Ericsson Board was not backward in coming forward to openly say that it forced Vestberg out.

Digital signatures leader Docusign has announced ‘rapid growth in Australia since establishing a presence in the region just two years ago, demonstrating the drive for digital transformation in the wider business market.’ And there’s more to come as the company strives to rapidly increase its headcount.

Every successful IT start-up begins with a good idea – there must be a better way to do this. So began MarkLogic and its journey to what is now known as a NoSQL database.

We also have all the important breaking news for the past 24 hours.
