Get down in Darktown You've seen the show, bought the limited edition exhibition poster and a painted bell to ring when in need of a Pastis. Now HEAR the soundtrack of Darktown with a performance from The Postmen. Jonny Hannah's band play their blend of Woody Guthrie and The Pixies, Half man Half Biscuit and Arthur Askey, favela inspired Sambas and council estate choruses here in the seaside arches on Friday 27th October. Join us at 6pm for an exhibition walk around with Jonny and a drink. (Did we hear the tinkle of the Pastis bell?) Tickets are £10 and available here. |

Go large or go home... Join our tutor Katie Sollohub for truly expansive experience in our studio beside the sea. In Large Scale Gestural Drawing - Rhythm and Repetition with Katie Sollohub you'll spend two days embracing the weather and moving your body, making large gestural drawings inspired by the energy of this place. Come and immerse yourself in the experience, whether taking a walk by the water’s edge or sheltering in the studio, and translate those invigorating sensations into marks on the page. You'll use pencil, charcoal and mixed media to make small drawings outside (November weather permitting!), before working on large-scale drawings (4ftx8ft) in the studio. Take your drawing away whole, cut it up into smaller pieces, wash it off in the sea, or leave it behind and take away only the memory of the experience. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? Join us. Discover the full calendar of short courses at ABTS here. |
