Good afternoon,

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has discussed what everyday life could look like after the lockdown ends. While it isn't ideal that mass gatherings won't be able to happen for some time yet, talk of restrictions being loosened is definitely good news. Even the ability to meet a small "bubble" of people, as Sturgeon put it, from outside the household would be massive for so many people.

However, these ideas have not come into effect yet. We cannot be complacent in the meantime. Because any sign that a second wave of the coronavirus could be coming will land us right back in the same situation we are now.

Stay home. Stay safe. The light at the end of the tunnel is visible. Just hang in there.

Here are today's headlines:

  • Nicola Sturgeon has discussed a scheme in which people could meet a small "bubble" of others outside their own households as lockdown measures are eased.
  • Organisers of TRNSMT festival have today confirmed that the event this year has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The UK Government is scrambling to meet its 100,000 a day coronavirus testing target, announcing a major expansion of eligibility in England with less than a week before a self-imposed deadline.
  • Green MSPs have called on the Scottish Government to demonstrate its appreciation for the nation’s nurses by covering their 2020 professional registration fees.
