Good evening,

The First Minister has handed down a warning to the people of Scotland that, if the new measures of lockdown are not being complied with, the government will readily slap on the previous restrictions which existed before.

We know it's difficult to only see members of one other household, especially when the weather is so great and typical for meeting in large numbers with friends and family, but if there is a second wave of the coronavirus in Scotland then we will soon find ourselves back where we started.

This is mentioned, along with other coronavirus-related news, in tonight's headlines:

  • First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has warned Scots that her government will reimpose lockdown restrictions if people do not comply with the newest guidelines. It comes after police figures showed that officers issued 797 dispersals on Saturday alone.
  • Nicola Sturgeon has revealed someone close to her has been diagnosed with coronavirus as she criticised people who broke the new lockdown guidelines over the weekend.
  • Speaking at her daily press briefing, the First Minister confirmed that one more person has died from the virus in the last 24 hours.
  • The number of coronavirus tests carried out in Scotland hit a new low yesterday, figures have revealed. A total of 2,729 tests took place – 42 per cent fewer than the previous Sunday, despite capacity for 15,000 per day in Scotland.
  • Scotland’s events and festivals are unlikely to be able to return to normality in 2021 - amid fears that fears that its reputation for them will be damaged by the UK having the highest coronavirus death toll in Europe.
  • A care home in Forth Valley was left without personal protective equipment (PPE) after a payment was stolen by criminals, a task force has heard.
