| This is not Easter as we know it. On probably the most important weekend of the Christian calendar, people will not even be allowed into churches to commemorate the resurrection of Christ. With the sun expected to shine once again, the PSNI have also been very clear that we should all stay at home and not visit friends or relatives or travel to some of Northern Ireland’s beauty spots. The police revealed on Friday that over 900 complaints have already been made to them about people failing to follow social-distancing guidelines. Road blocks were set up by the PSNI on the main routes to the north coast on Friday while Newcastle in Co Down is closed to all visitors. People who are tempted to play loose with the regulations should remember that lives are being lost every day to Covid-19, with another 10 deaths recorded in Northern Ireland on Friday. This brings Northern Ireland’s total deaths related to Covid-19 to 92. Despite the restrictions, it is still possible for us to enjoy Easter, and communicate closely with our loved ones using the gift of modern technology like video calls. Stay safe.
