Good evening, No, you're (still) crying. Just a day after we published a story about a mum who spent eight days on a ventilator with a “50/50 chance” of dying from coronavirus - we can share her work colleagues have raised more than £1,000 for the NHS to thank them for saving their colleague. People really are amazing aren't they? If one positive thing comes out of this pandemic, it will be the recognition that we can all make a difference. Meanwhile a study has revealed Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) people are at a “markedly higher risk of death” if they catch the coronavirus. And, ahead of analysis at a Lancashire hospital being published later this week, experts have called for more research to be done. Further advice for BAME communities may also be issued and could see people urged to take a Vitamin D supplement to boost their respiratory and immune systems. Meanwhile, we are all waiting with baited breath for the government's latest announcement - likely to include a slight easing of lockdown restrictions. Slow will be the key. Take care of yourselves and your families. Nicola Adam Deputy Editor |
