The latest Covid-19 news from around Lancashire

The Prime Minister, himself just recovered from Covid-19, has warned that we are currently at the moment of maximum risk in our fight against the virus. It’s not difficult to see why. The weekend’s fine weather saw people across the country heading out onto the streets, beaches and parks as they sought some respite from the lockdown. But as we head into the sixth week, it is vital that we do not start to lose patience. We know that we have almost certainly come through the first peak of coronavirus, losing around 25,000 lives if you count those who have died in care homes and the community with figures from hospitals. But as any expert will tell you, that is not the end. The virus is still out there and peaks two and three are likely just around the corner. So it’s important we now see the bigger picture. This is just a few months out of our lives. Yes, it is tough, but we can do it. We are lucky to have technology at our disposal so we can see our family and friends virtually if not in person. Keep going - it could save your life. Gillian Parkinson Editor | |
