NARVESON | Staff writer Potential turnout: On Dec. 7, East Baton Rouge Parish voters will decide who their next mayor-president will be, after Republican Sid Edwards and incumbent Democrat Sharon Weston Broome secured the top two spots in last week's primary. But in the same election, residents who live in St. George will vote on whether to approve transferring the new city's share of a parishwide 2% sales tax over to St. George. Historically, turnout has been low in Baton Rouge mayoral runoffs, but some wonder if the St. George item, which follows years of intense controversy and is on the ballots of more than 50,000 people, will drive greater turnout.
