Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here's a look at some of our top headlines.
Two for one: Gov. Jeff Landry is supporting Supreme Court Justice Jimmy Genovese to be the next president of Northwestern State, saying he's the right man for the job and the candidate Northwestern stakeholders want. Political and legal sources, however, tell Tyler Bridges such a move could accomplish another goal of Landry's for the state's high court.
Building sale: Plans to convert the former Catholic Bookstore building on South Carrollton Avenue into a dental office could be moving forward soon. Stephanie Riegel has the details on the Archdiocese of New Orleans' request of a U.S. bankruptcy court judge.
The right call? A New Orleans police officer's decision not to give a field sobriety test to former U.S. Rep. Cedric Richmond after Richmond crashed his Mercedes into a tree raised eyebrows when the incident came to light in 2023. But a new report by the NOPD’s Public Integrity Bureau has now backed the officer's decision. Gordon Russell and WWL Louisiana's Katie Moore have the latest.
