My council, my vote: 2024 Council election

Local government elections will be held on Saturday 26 October 2024 via postal ballot.

 

Nominating as a candidate 

Anyone wishing to stand as a candidate for Council must submit their nomination between 9am on 9 September and noon on 17 September 2024.

All candidates in a council election are required to complete the online Local Government Candidate Training on this website.

 

Voting  

Ballot packs will be mailed to the postal address of enrolled voters from Monday 7 October, and you have until 6pm on Friday 25 October to post your vote. Voting is compulsory for those registered on the electoral roll. Enrolled voters failing to vote risk being fined.

New Energy Incentives & Instant Asset Write-offs

The Australian Tax Office is now accepting additional deductions and write-offs for small business including: 

  • 20% bonus tax deduction for energy  
  • Up to $20,000 instant asset write-off 

These changes apply to expenses incurred from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.
