| Excitement builds for the 2022 World Games In less than a year, Alabama will play host to one of the biggest sporting events on the planet, as more than 3,600 top athletes from around the globe converge in Birmingham for the 2022 World Games. Athletes from over 100 countries will compete in 32 sports at sporting venues all across the Magic City. The event, which is only held every four years in the year following the Summer Olympic Games, will bring thousands of spectators to Alabama from July 7-17, 2022. The schedule for the 11-day event is jam-packed with unique sporting events, food, live entertainment and plenty of family fun.
