Course Renovation Update
Lots of progress over the past 7 days on the Vale and Practice Facilities. We continue to stay on plan, even in some tough weather conditions, and make further improvements as we go. The improved changes you will find on the Vale and Practice Facilities will be fantastic. Practice Facility: All three of the target greens on the upper range have been sodded with bentgrass to give you an on course feeling. (first picture below) The practice green area will be stripped this weekend and begin to be shaped for a green that is approximately 3 times the current size. Trees have been removed as well. The size of the practice green will allow numerous people to putt and also allow us to run fun, 9 hole putting contests. Fairway mowing patterns have been started on the lower range to give you an on course feel while practicing. This will also be done on upper range for short game area. When completed we will have numerous areas for you to work on putting, chipping, pitching, bunker practice, range work and wedge practice of 25-100 yard shots. Vale Greens: Holes 1-8 have been stripped and dug out. Hole 9 will be the last Vale green to be done. Greens will be larger and allow for more pin placements while bringing bunkers into play. We added a little false front on hole 6. (second picture below) Greens now will start to be filled with a new mix and rototilled in. Following that shaping will take place and seeding. Going forward our collars on our greens will be a uniformed 30 inches for all greens. Green Surrounds Our staff has completed new collection areas on holes 3 & 8. These have been sodded with bentgrass (pictures three and four below) We will be making other extended fairways around greens or collection areas on holes 4, 5, 6 and 7. Some will be bentgrass and some will be low cut bluegrass. Your view and strategy of many holes will not only change because of the greens but also from these areas. As always, please let us know any of your questions. This is a very exciting improvement for the Club. Have a Great Weekend! -Your Echo Valley Team
