COVID-19 testing continues today at Eau Claire High School

Testing will be conducted at the school, located at 4800 Monticello Road, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The tests are free and available to anyone who wants one. Around 300 people were tested on Wednesday, according to a news release.

DHEC analysis adds 29 to COVID-19 death total

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control cross-analyzed deaths reported to the agency by medical professionals with deaths reported on death certificates. The additional deaths bring S.C.’s total to 232 as of April 29.

S.C. General Assembly to reconvene May 12

Senate President Harvey Peeler and House Speaker Jay Lucas announced in a joint letter today that the Legislature would reconvene. The 2020 session is scheduled to end May 14, though a 2-week extension may be possible.

S.C. unemployment claims drop for 2nd straight week

For the week ending April 25, 65,159 claims were filed, down 7,957 from the previous week. In the last 6 weeks, 406,889 claims have been filed, according to the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce.
