COVID eases up in La. — but for how long?

with Jennifer Wadsworth | Assistant metro editor

Good morning. Let's take a spin through some of our latest headlines.

COVID eases up in La. — but for how long?

After two years of drastic measures meant to contain coronavirus through five surges, Louisiana seems to have passed the ultimate COVID test: Mardi Gras 2022, where thousands gathered from all over, parading and partying their way through a dazzling, blue-skied Fat Tuesday. Now, as vaccination requirements are dropped and masks are rarer indoors, the question is this: Can we repeat safely gathering throughout the coming height of festival season, and what comes next?

Emily Woodruff and Jeff Adelson explore that question in this piece.

Election results

Votes were cast Saturday in a few special elections in the capital region, including one for the East Baton Rouge Metro Council and another for the 19th Judicial District Court. Click here for results to the former and here for the latter.
