Good evening

So it’s 10 million down ... around 22 million to go.

As the Prime Minister comes under pressure to start revealing details of his roadmap out of lockdown, it is thought that no major concessions will begin until everyone over 50 has been vaccinated.

Mr Johnson has said that on February 22 he will start to reveal his vision for removing some of the restrictions we are currently facing, including getting children back to school and looking at opening up businesses again.

But according to scientific experts who advise him, we may need to see all over 50s jabbed before that can happen - around 3m million people in total - or we run the risk of overwhelming the NHS once more.

While this may not seem brilliant news, at least it gives us a target to aim for. And critically, it will mean those most vulnerable to Covid are less likely to become seriously ill and die.

A very tiny light has appeared on the horizon. It may be pretty distant at the moment, but at least it is there.

That cuddle from a grandchild/evening out with friends/pint of freshly pulled ale is in touching distance.

Until next time, take care,

Gillian
