50 years ago: A look back at LaVell Edwards’ first game as BYU’s head coach

Fifty years ago this Friday, LaVell Edwards stepped onto the field as BYU’s head coach and started a legacy that continues until today. BYU now has a No. 12 ranked team and a long line of former players Edwards coached who continue to talk about how much they appreciate his leadership and impact on their lives.

Cox, GOP governors: Student loan forgiveness ‘rewards rich, punishes poor’

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and 21 other governors have all called on President Joe Biden to immediately withdraw his student loan forgiveness plan. A letter from the Republican Governors Association argues that the “plan rewards the rich and punishes the poor,” by simply redistributing $600 billion in student debt to the rest of the taxpaying population. The letter also argues that the president lacks the authority to “wield unilateral action to usher in a sweeping student loan cancellation plan, a position shared by leaders of your party.”
