Montana's governor has called for a halt in the resettlement of refugees from Afghanistan after an evacuee was charged with rape. In a letter sent to President Joe Biden on Wednesday, Gov. Greg Gianforte said that while he welcomes evacuees fleeing the Taliban to the state, he has “grave concerns” about the vetting process and called for its "immediate reevaluation."

An advocacy group held a protest outside the National School Boards Association in response to the organization’s characterization of parents expressing concern about sexually charged curriculum and other controversial actions taken by school districts as “domestic terrorists.” Mom for America founder and President Kimberly Fletcher said, "We have a fundamental right to teach, raise, educate and nurture our children and that fundamental right allows us within the Constitution, our constitutionally protected right, to go into a school board, a school district, meet with a principal and express our concerns."

Member James Freeman of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee has resigned and new leadership has been appointed after committee members voted to waive attorney-client privilege as part of an investigation into the denomination’s leadership's handling of sexual abuse claims. Rod D. Martin, who also recently resigned, warned in his resignation letter that, "We cannot allow this enormous force for good to be destroyed, whether by vile, wicked sex abusers who’ve violated the ultimate trust, or by foolish, self-serving leaders who’ve exposed the church to needless danger."

Six months after launching a statewide initiative to review reports of abuse committed by clergy and faith leaders in Wisconsin, Attorney General Josh Kaul announced Wednesday that they have received nearly 180 reports of abuse by leaders from multiple religious organizations and faith traditions.
