A Virginia college professor has been placed on leave for defending “minor-attracted people” in a recently published book and podcast appearance. Dr. Allyn Walker is a proponent of separating the term "pedophile" from "minor-attracted people," saying that "MAP refers to someone who has preferential attractions to minors, and that can include children who have gone through puberty or not. And then child sexual abusers are people who have committed a sexual offense against a child."
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has approved a document on communion that doesn’t overtly call for a ban on pro-choice politicians receiving the sacrament despite early speculation that it might do so following the election of President Joe Biden. While the document was primarily focused on “the importance of the Eucharist in the life of the Church,” it also stated, “As Christians, we bear the responsibility to promote the life and dignity of the human person, and to love and to protect the most vulnerable in our midst: the unborn, migrants and refugees, victims of racial injustice, the sick and the elderly.”
Christian Aid Ministries called for more prayers for its 17 missionaries kidnapped in Haiti more than 30 days ago as officials declared Thursday another “special day of prayer and fasting.” Citing Psalm 147:5, the organization stated, "We request ongoing prayer for those being held, the families of the hostages, government officials who are assisting, and the kidnappers themselves."
A “sea of preachers” gathered Thursday at the Glynn County Courthouse in Brunswick, Ga., where three white men are on trial for the murder of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery. The gathering comes a week after defense attorney Kevin Gough asked a judge to limit the number of black pastors who can support Arbery’s family inside the courtroom.
Christian Post Executive Editor Richard D. Land advocates for parental leave, explaining why he believes it is pro-life. "I can think of no higher legislative priority than investing in the health and emotional well-being of our children and their parents — mothers and fathers," he writes.
Former “Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown reveals in her new book that she believes she let down her faith following a dispute with a Christian contestant about having sex before marriage. “I do believe that the Lord intended for sex to be in the confines of marriage, but that’s not so for a lot of people,” she said in an interview.

When Ministry Becomes Idolatry

I tried numerous times to soften the tone and re-work the language of this article, but God made it clear not to diminish a word. First Corinthians 11:31 says that if we discern wrong thoughts, actions, and attitudes, and repent of them, that we would not come under God’s judgment. My hope is that this article sparks self-examination as it did in my own life.

It Completely Wrecked Me

When the sermon, When Ministry Becomes Idolatry, was released, the feedback was overwhelming. One young adult wrote: “Tonight was amazing. God moved in my heart like never before…it hit me deep. Ministry became an idol. I was designing my own calling.” A pastor wrote, “The sermon and the video that followed completely wrecked me. Our church will never be the same.” It’s amazing what God will do if we humble ourselves and receive His correction. You can watch the sermon here.

Idolatry hides behind phrases such as my calling, my ministry, and my gifting. What a travesty it would be at the end of our journey to find that vainglory deceived us and coveting misled us.
