A federal appeals court has kept Texas’ heartbeat abortion ban in place and sent the lawsuit against the legislation to the Republican-controlled state supreme court, a move celebrated by pro-life activists and opposed by abortion-rights proponents. The three-judge panel of the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th Circuit ruled 2-1 on Monday to send the lawsuit to the Texas Supreme Court, with Circuit Judge Edith H. Jones, a Reagan appointee who authored the majority opinion, writing, "To avert creating needless friction with a coequal sovereign in our federal system, this court reasonably seeks the Texas Supreme Court’s final word on the matter.”
Parents suing a Wisconsin school district over a policy that allows officials to withhold knowledge of students’ efforts to change their gender identity from their families will have their case brought before the state supreme court. The unnamed parents suing the school district are represented by the conservative legal nonprofit Alliance Defending Freedom and the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty. ADF and WILL filed the lawsuit against Madison Metropolitan School District in February 2020 over its 2018 directive “Guidance & Policies to Support Transgender, Non-binary & Gender Expansive Students," which states, "In MMSD, we will strive to model gender-inclusive language that affirms the gender diversity of our MMSD students, staff, and families and disrupts the gender binary."
In this interview with The Christian Post, Denzel Washington and Dana Canedy discuss the new film "A Journal for Jordan." Washington discusses the meaning behind the film's message, explaining, "We're such a divided country right now. That is one of the reasons I wanted to make this film, because it's about real heroes. ... It's an uplifting story about real heroes, real leaders, real sacrifice." Click to watch the full interview.
Popular Pastor Michael Todd of Transformation Church in Bixby, Okla., is making headlines following the release of a sermon clip from Sunday showing him wiping globs of spit on a congregant's face even as the pandemic rages. Todd became a trending topic on Twitter as the clip made the rounds across the internet. Christian writer and theology student Dante Stewart took to Twitter to condemn the move, writing, "I don't know even where to start. The audacity. The cult energy. The spiritual and theological abusiveness."
In this CP Voices analysis, Bill Connor writes about the increasingly polarizing differences between Democratic viewpoints and Christianity and the potential implications for free speech and freedom. "Disturbingly, 59 percent of Democratic voters support confining the unvaccinated to their homes at all times, while the vast majority of American voters oppose such a draconian infringement of rights. Almost a third of Democrats (29 percent) even support removing custody of the children of the unvaccinated, and 47 percent support forced tracking devices on the unvaccinated," he warns. Rev. Raphael Warnock, who was elected as Georgia’s first black U.S. senator a year ago, urged his colleagues in Congress Monday not to "dismember" the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. by opposing Democrat-backed voting rights legislation. Democrats’ voting bills have been met with varying degrees of resistance from Republicans while an ongoing debate over whether the Senate filibuster should be repealed continues.
"Throughout the Bible, we see that there is only one remedy — one solution, one cure — to rekindle a dead spiritual life: revival. Revival is when we till the soil of our heart through brokenness, humility, and surrender via fasting, prayer, and obedience. God responds by rending the heavens with a spiritual downpour and reviving our parched soul," Shane Idleman, the lead pastor of Westside Christian Fellowship, writes. In this editorial, Idleman breaks down how to reignite a passion for God, including by being hungry for more of God and not fearing the fire. Click to keep reading.

Jews make up only two percent of the U.S. population, yet sixty percent of hate crimes related to religion are directed against Jews. Baseless hatred of people often goes hand in hand with bizarre claims in order to stir violence and fear towards them. In my new book, Conspiracy U: A Case Study(Wicked Son, 2021), I demonstrate how professors in academia - specifically, Northwestern University - break away from rational thinking into the dangerous waters of conspiracy theories. You would think in academia, professors would understand the differences between a conspiracy theory and a theory, though that is not the case these days. My alma mater, Northwestern University, has professors that attempt to make arguments that they portray as scholarly discourses - when in reality, they are merely conspiracy theories dressed up with fancy words. Conspiracy U takes readers through the journey of Jewish history and how Israel is central to both Judaism and Christianity. Students should be able to rely on professors to teach facts and not to display blatant biases... read more
