Red flags on medical staff applications

Potential concerns about an applicant, often called red flags, should be identified and documented. With time and practice, you’ll learn to discern signs of trouble. Examples of red flags include the following:

Match results highlight future of medicine
A record number of medical school students and graduates applied for residency positions this year, according to the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). More than 38,000 applicants competed for 35,185 positions. The number of first-year positions also hit a new record of 32,194, almost 2,000 more than last year. One of the reasons for the increase in positions was osteopathic programs joining the Main Residency Match as part of their transition to ACGME accreditation, states the NRMP.

District court: Self-critical analysis and peer review privileges not applicable to all cases

The United States District Court of Maine (the “Court”) ruled in favor of a plaintiff seeking to compel a juvenile reformatory and the Maine Department of Corrections to produce certain documents, finding that self-critical analysis and peer review privileges were not applicable to the case.
