Terms like climate change and global warming can feel as overwhelming as they are divisive. But does that mean we should just look away?
Leaders of a Christian organization at the intersection of poverty and the environment say no. But we aren’t left to our own devices when it comes to finding a meaningful way to the climate crisis. Instead, Christi Huizenga Renaud and Lynne Marian of Plant With Purpose say that we can begin our journey toward environmental stewardship at the very place where we begin our faith—with awareness of God’s heart for creation.
“Taking action on climate change can be an effective way to introduce God’s good news,” they write in a recent CT article. “When we advocate for the creation, we bear witness to the Creator.”
In a two-part series, Renaud and Marian introduce several first steps that individuals, families, and communities can take toward honoring God’s creation. May we take heart in their words:
“Even small steps make a difference. Begin where you are, then keep walking.”
