Clothes make the man: Florida judge orders lawyers to put themselves together Be honest: Do you get fully dressed for your work-related Zoom meetings? Since so many of us are now working from home, it can seem a bit unnecessary to get fully dolled-up for the day — especially if you’re only being seen from the waist up. But a Florida judge isn’t taking too kindly to this new culture of casual dress. To preserve decorum in his courtroom, Broward Circuit Judge Dennis Bailey wrote a letter to the Weston Bar Association that pleaded for lawyers to take themselves seriously and get dressed in the morning. One notable instance also took place where a female lawyer showed up to a Zoom meeting in bed, with the covers pulled all the way up. On one hand, we can understand the sentiment. Lawyers are professionals, and it’s hardly professional to participate in a trial when you look like you’re sleeping. On the other hand, can you blame the swim-trunk wearers? They’re working from home in Florida of all places! People in Florida just have more fun. It’s a fact!
