This hard season has also been a clarifying one.
With the restrictions on church gatherings, we’re seeing a lot of people disengage from their congregations. My wife and I ran into a member from my church lately. As we caught up, I commented on how difficult it’s been not to be able to physically gather. “Oh, I found a new church weeks ago,” she said. “They’re meeting on Sundays, so I went there.”
I understood her move, though I wondered how committed she was to our church in the first place. Like I said, this season has been a clarifying one. One thing it’s revealed is that a lot of people weren’t terribly devoted to their churches.
One way to strengthen that commitment is to make sure your church has Meaningful Membership. This resource will help people deepen their commitment to the church and to God. Speaking of commitment, sometimes we’re too dedicated to politics. That’s especially true when our political passion is stronger than our commitment to the gospel. In this interview with author Kaitlyn Schiess, we’re reminded to engage in politics without losing our soul.
