| - USDA World Board Head Defends Keeping China Corn Import Estimate at 7MMT: Mark Jekanowski, chairman of World Agricultural Outlook Board, said, “keep in mind that export sales ... do get canceled at times.” Earlier this week, Reuters reported China has already booked around 12 MMT of corn from the U.S. and 5 MMT from other countries. That would be a LOT of cancellations. And customs data shows 6.7 MMT of corn has already arrived in China between January and September. USDA has indicated it is waiting on China to officially issue more low tariff rate quotas (the current quota is for 7.2 MMT of corn), but in doing so USDA is losing credibility.
