By Bob Warren Passenger overboard: Authorities have been searching the waters off Southwest Pass since Wednesday for a woman who reportedly went overboard on a cruise ship. The woman was on the Carnival Valor and other cruise passengers posted items on social media about seeing her jump over the side. The search continues, the Coast Guard says. Hot in Kenner: The politics is getting a little, uh, heated in Kenner. The City Council will vote on a resolution Friday asking Mayor Ben Zahn and some of his key deputies to resign. No power of law, of course, the resolution is really just a formalized gesture. Not that Zahn appears to be having any of it anyway. (A little background here.) Should be quite the scene on Friday. COVID and Carnival: Looking for the skinny on how to navigate Mardi Gras in the time of COVID? We hosted a forum this morning with some health experts. Check out what they said. Dementia: Bob Dean, the nursing home operator who came under fire for his homes’ controversial evacuations during Hurricane Ida, has advanced dementia and shouldn’t have to sit for depositions in a slew of lawsuits stemming from those evacuations, his attorneys say. Praline Queen: Notable passing to report today. Loretta Harrison, a chef whose delicious pralines and sweet potato pies earned her the name "Praline Queen," died on Wednesday. Harrison, our restuaurant writer Ian McNulty says, "exuded a warmth that could fill the room." RIP. Hope you enjoyed Lunch Line today. Thanks for taking a break with us. BW |
