Dear Voornaam
This week, we celebrated the first anniversary of our innovation arm, Cancer Research Horizons – and what a year it’s been.
Cancer Research Horizons unites our drug discovery labs, tech platforms, biology network and commercial activities within a single organisation to advance the best research and cutting-edge approaches towards novel therapeutic innovation programmes, commercial partnerships and clinical development.
We also set up Cancer Research Horizons to help researchers along their translational journey from early drug discovery to clinical or commercial application, by providing support and direction with some of the trickier aspects, such as legal affairs, business development and sourcing financing.
Our first year saw many of you participating in our entrepreneurial programmes to acquire the key skills and receive bespoke advice to maximise the potential of your research and connect with other scientific entrepreneurs. I’m pleased to share that our newest programmes, Oncostars and Oncology Development Programme 2, are now open for applications – read on for more information.
Thank you for being a part of this over the last year. Keep in touch with our teams and follow Cancer Research Horizons on LinkedIn and Twitter to hear the latest updates and opportunities, so your research also has the best path to reach patients.
Kind regards, Iain Foulkes Executive Director Research & Innovation CEO Cancer Research Horizons Cancer Research UK |

SEX, INTIMACY AND CANCER – THAT CANCER CONVERSATION Any cancer diagnosis regardless of its type can have an impact on a person's sexual wellbeing and sexual confidence and can detract from the enjoyment that they experience sexually, says Isabel White, a cancer and psychosexual nurse.
We sat down with Isabel, Brian Lobel (co-founder of Sex with Cancer) and Tara to talk about sexual wellbeing for those affected by cancer in the latest episode of our podcast series That Cancer Conversation.
Hear Isabel’s advice on talking about sexual wellbeing with health professionals, how Brian's online initiative creates a safe space for open conversations and how Tara approached sex and intimacy after her cancer treatment. |
