| | What data do we already have that can help us understand less heard voices in research and publishing? How many publications contain fabricated, falsified, or plagiarised data, and how should we deal with fake studies? The latest in our Research with Integrity series sees Andrew Porter, Research Integrity and Training Adviser at our Manchester Institute, and the wider research integrity team give us the low-down of research integrity from the 8th World Conference on Research Integrity. Read along to find out what they think you should know about this culture change journey. |

Announcing the June winner of our #ResearchisBeautiful image campaign |
| Congratulations to Michaela Macdonald from Carcinotech for winning the image of the month in our Research is Beautiful image campaign. Michaela’s image captures a 3D-bioprinted living tumour derived from donor glioblastoma tissue. Carcinotech specialises in crafting these bioengineered tumours from patient biopsies, offering researchers and drug developers an alternative to animal models for screening and testing cancer therapies. Interested in taking part? Drop us an email by 25th of each month with your wonderful moments of science to win our monthly pick. T&Cs apply. |

| | Calling all researchers drafting a manuscript for publication that includes in vitro models. You are invited to take part in user testing for new minimum reporting standards. RIVER (Reporting In Vitro Experiments Responsibly) is a set of six recommendations helping to ensure that manuscripts include the information necessary for a reader to assess the methodological rigour and reliability of the study. Submit your draft manuscript to receive expert feedback from members of the RIVER working group, improve the transparency of your work and its chance of successful publication. | |
| | | | We’re jointly funding additional awards in the NC3Rs Partnership and Impact scheme for researchers seeking to achieve a 3Rs impact within cancer research. These awards support researchers to work together to test and share 3Rs approaches across labs, accelerating uptake and achieving wider 3Rs impacts. Applications can include studies to build the evidence base for a 3Rs approach, demonstrate transferability, or apply a model to a new discipline. We also encourage applications for studies demonstrating that an approach is fit-for-purpose in a new lab or organisation in order to build further confidence in the model’s use. You can watch the launch webinar now and register for the next webinar on 9 July about writing a competitive application. | |
