Dear Voornaam

Are you interested in developing your knowledge of translational medicine and advancing your entrepreneurial skills? This year were sponsoring four places on the Eureka International Certificate Course in Sicily for fellows and junior group leaders with Cancer Research UK-funding.

The course is led by the internationally recognised Eureka Institute faculty, including experienced academics who have successfully translated research to provide patient benefits, as well as senior industry experts, clinical trial specialists, legal and regulatory professionals and experts in incorporating the patient voice into the design of translational medicine approaches.

Express your interest and explain why this course would benefit you by emailing our programme team by 31 March.

THE RESEARCH INTEGRITY EVENTS TO ADD TO YOUR DIARY

Did you know that there is a stimulating conference scene for research integrity, metascience and best practices in research? Like in academia, these events provide a platform to exchange knowledge, collaborate and contribute to solutions for current issues.

In her latest piece for our series on research integrity, Catherine Winchester (Senior Research Advisor at the Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute) guides us through the vibrant circuit of international, local and online events that have shaped her approach to integrity.

Catherine explains that these events are crying out for researcher input and how taking part not only encourages reflection but will also help promote a healthy research culture.

INTRODUCING CANCER RESEARCH HORIZONS NEW PARTNER PREDICTIVE ONCOLOGY

Our innovation arm, Cancer Research Horizons, has partnered with Predictive Oncology to use its machine learning platform PEDAL during drug development.

Leveraging the worlds largest biobank of over 150,000 tumour samples, PEDAL will evaluate our pre-clinical drugs inhibiting glutaminase to determine which cancer types and patient populations are most likely to respond to treatment.

This will allow the selection of new drugs that have a better chance of clinical success and will lead to patient benefit sooner.
