Meet our latest grant awardees working in discovery research

Congratulations to the latest cohort of researchers receiving grant awards from our Discovery Research Committee:

Zoltan Takats, Burak Temelkuran, Sadaf Ghaem-Maghami, Josephine Bunch, Sergio Quezada, Alan Warren and Jessica Downs were selected for Programme Awards, whilst Paul Elliott and Sarah McClelland were awarded Programme Foundation Awards.

Kevin Marchbank, Helen Reeves, Irina Udalova and Iain McNeish received the Cancer Immunology Project Awards. Fernando Perez-Cota, Alan McIntyre, Matt Clark, Emma Harris and Kairbaan Hodivala-Dilke received Multidisciplinary Project Awards jointly funded by us and the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council.

From scientist to start-up with 3D bioprinting

Ishani Malhotra left her job as an industry scientist to start her own company, Carcinotech, to 3D print assay-ready, human-derived tumours for cancer drug discovery and development. She hopes these rapid, ethical and scalable alternatives to animal models will accelerate drug development and get new treatments to patients sooner.
