Dear Voornaam
We believe in the power of discovery to beat cancer, in supporting the individuals and teams who can push the boundaries of our understanding today and in developing the next generation who can continue making discoveries in the years ahead.
A key element of our strategy is to strengthen the UKs position as a world-leading destination for discoveries, in life sciences, cancer and innovation.
Later this year, we will publish a Manifesto for Cancer Research and Care which sets out clear, actionable policy proposals ahead of the next Westminster elections.
Its vital that our calls are relevant and grounded in evidence, and this is where you can help. Over the next few weeks, well be releasing a series of surveys around themes such as global collaboration, the clinical research environment, and access to health data for research. Through these, we want to gather your insights to build into our policy recommendations, so they can have the most impact on the research environment and outcomes for everyone affected by cancer.
In the first survey, wed like to hear how Brexit has impacted your research and about your priorities for global collaboration. This will help us to develop policy calls around reducing barriers and increasing opportunities for new and ongoing collaborations. We also welcome input from your colleagues, collaborators and anyone you work with across research operations, so please share as widely as possible within your network.
Thank you in advance for your support. Here is a link to our first survey.
Kind regards, Iain Foulkes Executive Director Research & Innovation CEO Cancer Research Horizons Cancer Research UK |

THAT CANCER CONVERSATION ON DIET AND CANCER METABOLISM As we start to understand the mechanisms behind nutrition and cancer, were realising that the current advice for patients may be counterproductive to their health, says our former chief scientist Karen Vousden. In the latest episode of our podcast series That Cancer Conversation, Karen and Clare Shaw, a lead cancer dietician and therapy researcher, explore how food could improve cancer treatment. Hear Karen and Clare discuss the advice and myths around diets during cancer treatment, how we could target cancer through metabolism and why precision nutrition could become the fourth pillar in cancer care, used in tandem with surgery, radiotherapy and therapeutics. |
