The Coronavirus briefing
At different points, CNN and MSNBC not only cut away from the briefing but criticized President Donald Trump for the focus on U.S. efforts against drug trafficking. When CNN cut away, Wolf Blitzer observed the White House was trying to “change the focus”, and on MSNBC, Chuck Todd cut into the briefing for similar reasons, telling viewers they would return one “we get an update on the pandemic itself.”
CNN also came in late, waiting until Trump was done with his opening remarks. Fox and MSNBC went live when the briefing began.

Fox News Channel chief correspondent John Roberts confronted Vice President Mike Pence on the subject of healthcare for the uninsured in the face of the pandemic.
"In terms of a fair questions, this is a huge worry for people in this country who are in that doughnut hole. They don’t have commercial insurance and they don’t qualify for medicaid. What do they do?" he asked after several minutes of dancing from Pence. Then Trump joined the fray. More Pence The Vice President was also grilled by CNN's Blitzer on Wednesday.
And called out by FBN's Stuart Varney.
And given a fiery warning by FBN's Charles Payne.
And he spoke with Nightline about churches and social distancing. Remember Bernie Sanders? Sen. Bernie Sanders is still running for president, in case you forgot. But The View's Whoopi Goldberg does not understand why.
Also on Wednesday, Sanders called for postponing the Wisconsin primary due to the pandemic.
You don't say! China lied about a number of aspects of the coronavirus pandemic, and hid the true number of cases they faced, which led many observers to exclaim, in varying degrees of their own words, "well, duh."
Giving Trump credit Both on The View and on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360°, President Trump got some unlikely, if heavily qualified praise on Wednesday for the tone and comprehensiveness of Tuesday's coronavirus briefing. Yes, that Jim Acosta. Speaking of credit Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, way back on March 5th, cited what are clearly very well informed sources when she spoke with Fox News Channel's Bill Hemmer about the coronavirus.
"“My sources are telling me, and I don’t want to panic anybody … we’re going to see tens of thousands – ultimately hundreds of thousands of cases in the United States."
Bartiromo took some heat on social media for this statement. But it has proved to be correct. Credit where due, her information was not only nothing to be mocked, but early and on target. War of words Fox's Greg Gutfeld got into a war of words with Andrew Lawrence of Media Matters overnight. In fact, it was a war about words, as Lawrence tweeted that Gutfeld was "lying" about The Five having "sounded the alarm on Coronavirus" back in January. Gutfeld replied with video from January 28th's airing, showing him discussing the Covid-19 outbreak, criticizing the administration for not taking more serious measures and urging it be taken seriously.
"look at The Five's coverage of coronavirus, which you said took coronavirus seriously since January" responded Lawrence.
"You called me a liar when there is footage of me showing the importance it was taken." said Gutfeld, along with some other words.
The argument is here. The video showing Gutfeld taking coronavirus seriously back in January, which is a video, is here. Good News Dr. Sarosh Ashraf Janjua was driving home from her shift at a coronavirus quarantine unit in Duluth when she was pulled over for speeding. But instead of a ticket, she was given a truly valuable gift, both in the literal and the emotional sense. |
