PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT A&E Network ordered 10 additional episodes of Live Rescue. The weekly series from the producers of Live PD, Big Fish Entertainment, has been averaging 1.3 million viewers on Monday nights. The move brings the show’s first-season total to 19 episodes. Dogs was greenlit for a second season by Netflix. The documentary series, developed by Glen Zipper, centers on the deep emotional bonds between people and their canine besties. World of Dance judge Derek Hough signed a first look deal with Universal Television, expanding his relationship with the studio behind the NBC series. The agreement includes both alternative and scripted programming. Don Cheadle (Avengers: Infinity War, Black Monday), Emily Mortimer (Mary Poppins Returns) and Helena Howard (Madeline’s Madeline, The Wilds) will star in Don’t Look Deeper, a sci-fi drama series for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s short-form video platform Quibi. A co-production between New Form, a Whistle-owned company, and Doug Liman’s 30 Ninjas for Quibi, the series centers on a high school senior who senses something about her just isn’t right – and that something is she’s not human. Syfy and Warner Horizon Scripted Television are developing Lobo (wt), based on the DC Comics fan-favorite and a live-action screen version of the intergalactic scoundrel. Emmett J. Scanlan, who plays the Lobo in Season 2 of Krypton, has a deal in place to star in the project. Comedy Central issued a pilot order to Chasers, a half-hour scripted comedy starring Rob Huebel (Childrens Hospital), reports Deadline. It hails from Reno 911’s Robert Ben Garant and Cathy Shim, who co-stars, and Ben Silverman and Howard Owens’ Propagate. The project is set in the world of the after dark, independent news video hunters of Los Angeles. NEW & RETURNING SERIES All that glitters isn’t just gold. Audiences will see why when INSP debuts Turquoise Fever on Wednesday, August 14 at 9p. The new series follows the Ottenson family and their pursuit of some of the most valuable turquoise in the world. AXS TV debuts WOW- Women Of Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling on Saturday, July 13 at 8p and 9p, respectively. Amazon released a new version on its Echo Dots Kids Edition smart speaker on Wednesday. The revamped Echo Dots Kids Edition features a new fabric case, similar to the new Echo Dot, however, with two color options not available for adults – light blue and rainbow stripes. Like the Echo Dot, it is 70% louder than its predecessor. The new Echo Dot Kids Edition begins shipping on June 26 and costs $69.99, $10 less than the version released last year.
