Avatar will join a previously announced slate including nearly 500 films and 7,500 television episodes. USA canceled Pearson after one season. The Suits spin-off was USA’s lowest-rated original scripted series. Facebook is being sued for age and gender bias, accused of withholding ads for financial services from older and female users. The complaint, filed in San Francisco federal court, alleges the company is violating civil rights law. Facebook, which had earlier this year agreed to amend a system that civil rights groups said allowed employers, landlords and lenders to discriminate by age, gender and zip code, said it is reviewing the complaint. And they have a winner! Brady Bunch superfan Lisa Shaw, from Charlotte, North Carolina, has won the grand prize in HGTV’s “A Very Brady Contest.” Shaw wil be treated to a six-night stay at the fully renovated Brady Bunch house in LA. HGTV received more than 3,000 video submissions from Brady Bunch fans during its “A Very Brady Contest”; America voted on a winner from nine finalists. STREAMING NOTES Ad intelligence and sales enablement platform MediaRadar released a study of AppleTV+’s original content ad spend, from August 1 to October 24. Upshot: AppleTV+ is promoting its original shows across all platforms, including TV and digital, with a heightened focus on premium television spots. Of the eight shows the streamer promoted, the top four, The Morning Show, For All Mankind, See and Dickinson accounted for 84% of total airings and 80% of total ad dollars spent. “Apple did not shy away from high priced ad placements while promoting AppleTV+ prior to launch,” said Todd Krizelman, Co-Founder and CEO of MediaRadar. “In fact, AppleTV+ spent more than any other streaming platform on advertising during the month of September.” AMC Networks is holding tight to US rights to the third show in its Walking Dead franchise. On the company’s earnings call last week, CEO Josh Sapan said that while a sweet deal was struck with Amazon for overseas markets, in the US, “The series will be used to fuel our own platforms, both streaming as well as linear, as we window it and take full advantage of the opportunities it presents us.” The new zombie drama is set to debut in 2Q20. Showtime will release all six episodes of new series Back to Life to its subscribers for on-demand streaming or download on midnight, November 10, ahead of its linear debut that night at 10p. Series follows a woman who returns home to her coastal town after 18 years behind bars.
