ADVERTISING

In its first “The State of Video” report, Group M notes that in the new world of video, “the 70-year-old symbiotic relationship between advertisers and television is threatened,” with advertisers increasingly in the business of re-thinking audiences. But TV and video taking on the data-rich, addressable characteristics of the internet offers the potential for direct and rapid response, the ability to think of narrower populations cohorts, and to address whole new categories of video consumption, like Esports. Here are the 3 paths Group M advises following “with equal vigor”:
  • Identify and leverage to the fullest extent the still-significant value in scheduled linear television.
  • Embrace the evolution of the most compelling consumer experience from broadcast to addressable and on-demand, and use data and targeting to compensate for declines in reach,
  • Actively embrace new forms of content and new channels of distribution with foster deliberate consumer choice and engagement.
