PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT Apple is close to sealing an order for an untitled Richard Gere-starring drama series from Howard Gordon and Warren Leight based on Israeli series Nevelot. Project hails from Fox 21 Television Studios, Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions and Keshet Studios. Series centers on two elderly Vietnam vets and best friends who find their monotonous lives upended when a woman they both loved five decades ago is killed in a car accident. Classic Rod Serling anthology series Night Gallery is getting a reboot via Syfy, where Teen Wolf creator/exec producer Jeff Davis and Midnight, Texas exec producer David Janollari have seen their project picked up for development. It will be co-produced by Universal TV, where David Janollari Entertainment is based, and Universal Cable Productions. Comedy Central inked an overall deal with Chris Distefano that includes exclusive on- and off-camera services as well as a first look at content created/developed for any platform. The deal covers several projects already in development, including an hour-long stand-up special, an animated series, an unscripted series and the continuation of the network’s interstitial series Stupid Questions with Chris Distefano. Scout Productions, the production house behind Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot, hired three new executives: Joel Chiodi as SVP, strategic development, Sean Perez as VP, production, and Renata Lombardo as VP, talent and development.
