The Sixth Annual Super Bowl Survey from BCW (Burson Cohn & Wolfe) and fielded by research firm PSB, found a number of trends emerging around the big game. According to their research, sports gambling is gaining traction, especially for Millennials, with 67% of Millennials more likely to bet on the Super Bowl over any other sporting event. Millennials are also excited about betting, as 52% would travel to place a bet. In addition, the Millennial demographic are also looking to esports to enhance the Super Bowl experience, as 50% of Millennials would consider watching an esports event associated with the Super Bowl. Other points included notes that fans are open to moving the Super Bowl to an international market, as 50% say that they would support a Super Bowl played internationally, a number that rises to 71% among Millennials. INDUSTRY/ROSTER MOVES Turner Ignite announced a pair of key moves, Seth Cole to senior vice president of brand partnerships, Turner Ignite Sports and Marybeth Strobel to senior vice president of ad innovation, Turner Ignite. The PGA TOUR announced that current Vice President of Marketing Partnerships, Alexandra “Alex” Baldwin, has been named President of the Web.com Tour. With the announcement, Baldwin becomes the first female in history to lead one of the PGA TOUR’s six global Tours as President. Dan Glod, who has served as President of the Web.com Tour since January of 2017, has been elevated to Senior Vice President, Global Sponsorship Strategy and Development in a corresponding announcement. The XFL formed a partnership with The Spring League, a professional football development organization, to test changes to rules and gameplay as it works to “reimagine the game” when it kicks off in 2020. Testing during The Spring League’s upcoming season follows the XFL’s first testing session conducted last month, which featured two Mississippi-based junior college teams. The Spring League will take the field in Austin from March 28 to April 11 and will provide players the opportunity to showcase their ability in front of XFL, NFL and other professional football talent evaluators.
