Major League Baseball and Sportradar are aligning for a wide-ranging, multi-year partnership designed to enhance and expand distribution of MLB’s real time game statistics around the globe. Starting with the upcoming 2019 season, the deal, which encompasses media and gaming rights at both international and domestic levels, will see Sportradar receive exclusive distribution rights for official MLB real time game statistics, as collected at every ballpark via the league’s proprietary technology and stat operators, to both media companies and regulated sports betting operators. It also will have exclusive rights to distribute live industry standard audio-visual game feeds to gaming operators outside the U.S. in territories where sports betting is legal. In the US, Sportradar will also serve as the official supplier of MLB’s real time betting data feed while MLB will incorporate Sportradar’s Integrity Services into its existing game integrity protection measures.
 
 
PROGRAMMING

Celebrating the 100-day countdown to the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, FOX Sports unveiled its family of lead announcers, programming and company-wide digital and marketing plans for the month-long tournament, which runs from June 7-July 7 out of Paris. JP Dellacamera and former U.S. Women’s National Team midfielder Aly Wagner lead FOX Sports’ world-class broadcast team for the 2019 tournament, with all 52 matches set to air live, including 22 on broadcast television – more than any FIFA Women’s World Cup ever – and 27 on FS1. The company will also offer more than 800 hours of coverage across linear and digital, including two daily studio shows.
 
ESPN is lining up a special “All-Access” event surrounding the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox that will run on March 6-7. The content initiative will feature Red Sox coverage throughout both days across ESPN platforms, including two Major League Baseball spring training games. The event kicks off with the Sunday Night Baseball team of Matt Vasgersian, Alex Rodriguez, Jessica Mendoza and reporter Buster Olney calling the Red Sox/Pirates game at 1p on ESPN. March 7 sees members of World Series champions being featured on ESPN Radio and various television programs, including SportsCenter and First Take, leading up to the Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins telecast at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN.
 
ATP, the governing body of men's professional tennis and ATP Media, will launch the tender process for the sale of the international media rights to the ATP Cup on March 4. Launching in January 2020, the ATP Cup will bring together more than 60 of the world's best players from 24 nations for an annual team event - with up to 750 ATP ranking points and $15 million prize money at stake with the inaugural tournament taking place in Australia from Jan. 3-12, 2020 across three cities - Sydney, Brisbane and one to be announced - and will feature 129 matches across 10 days.
 
Meanwhile, the BNP Paribas Open locked in programming plans for its run from March 4-17 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, with coverage on Tennis Channel and ESPN networks, and more than 120 total hours of live action. Tennis Channel will begin its broadcast on March 5 with a full day of coverage of the ATP Tour Qualifying Round, followed by live coverage of the first-ever Eisenhower Cup presented by Masimo. In addition, Tennis Channel Live at the BNP Paribas Open will be broadcast daily from a studio in the Indian Wells Tennis Garden Village. ESPN’s coverage will begin March 6 with ESPN3 on the ESPN app offering more matches and hours of competition than ever before, with fans having access to up to nine courts simultaneously (one more than last year) and a total of more than 600 hours. Action on TV will see 25 hours on deck beginning on ESPNEWS on March 13 with coverage of the women’s quarterfinals and the men’s Round of 16 live from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
 
The Olympic Channel serves up more than 100 hours of live streaming coverage of the International University Sports Federation 2019 Winter Universiade from March 2-12. Coverage from Krasnoyarsk, Russia begins with the Opening Ceremony and will be available worldwide at olympicchannel.com and its mobile apps featuring approximately 3,000 athletes from 58 countries.
