Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo signed on for a new four-year contract to keep his brand on SiriusXM Radio. Russo will continue to host Mad Dog Unleashed every weekday on his channel Mad Dog Sports Radio. “Chris is a singular talent at the top of his game and we are thrilled and very proud to tell our subscribers that SiriusXM will be Chris’ radio home for years to come,” said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s President and Chief Content Officer. “He’ll continue to headline Mad Dog Sports Radio on SiriusXM, which is the best all-sports talk radio channel in the country, and now with a sampling of his show available as a podcast on Pandora, more people than ever get access to the legendary Mad Dog in action.”
 
 
PROGRAMMING

NBC Sports saw - through Monday night - the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs average a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 596,000 viewers across its cable platforms to mark the best First Round cable delivery in 18 years and a rise of 10% over 2018, according to the company. Across NBC Sports streaming platforms, the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs have totalled 214.0 million live minutes, up 27% compared to the first 13 days of the 2018 Playoffs. Washington/Carolina Game 6 averaged a TAD of 1.042 million viewers on NBCSN to rank as the second-most watched game of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs to date behind only San Jose-Vegas double-overtime Game 6 on Sunday (1.354 million).
 
Meanwhile, ESPN’s First Take, which hosted guests from the network’s other studio shows from April 15-19 for the inaugural Debate Super Week, got its own boost. The special five episodes were up 3% in viewership over the comparable week in 2018, averaging 435,000 viewers, according to Nielsen.
 
Golf Channel is set to beef up coverage of collegiate play over the next six weeks, beginning today with the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships Regional Selections and culminating with the NCAA Division I Women’s and Men’s Golf Championships, May 17-29. The network will deliver expanded coverage of the final day of the NCAA women’s and men’s regional championships, Wednesday, May 8 and Wednesday, May 15, respectively, with nearly 30 combined hours of live tournament coverage of championship play. For women’s play, Bob Papa will handle play-by-play, with Karen Stupples and Curt Byrum as co-lead analysts. Steve Burkowski serves as hole announcer. The NCAA Men’s Golf Championships broadcast team brings in Papa and Byrum, along with Burkowski returning as hole announcer.
 
Showtime Sports will chronicle heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder’s ninth defense of his WBC title against mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale with a new installment of ALL ACCESS, premiering May 10 at 10p. The two American heavyweights will square off May 18 live on SHOWTIME from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
 
TNT and B/R Live's multi-platform coverage of the UEFA Champions League continues on April 30 with live semifinals coverage featuring Tottenham/Ajax followed by Barcelona/Liverpool on May 1. Both matches will start at 3p. with B/R Football Matchday presented by Pepsi previewing the action each day at 2p.
 
NBC Sports’ Premier League host Rebecca Lowe will take on a new task, working her first ever Kentucky Derby on May 4 at 2:30p on NBC. She will serve as co-host for the annual event as well as NBCSN’s coverage of the Kentucky Oaks on May 3. Among her assignments are an interview with Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert as well as a cooking segment with celebrity chef and longtime horse racing fan Bobby Flay.

The World Boxing Super Series locked in a deal with Sky Sports and Matchroom Boxing to exclusively carry the three Semi-Final doubleheaders throughout the UK starting April 27. “The WBSS is delighted to be working with Sky Sports and Matchroom Boxing to bring our sensational semi-finals to as many UK fans as possible,” said Kalle Sauerland, Chief Boxing Officer of Comosa, the organiser of World Boxing Super Series. “Boxing fans can look forward to colossal nights of boxing. Discovery inked a deal with France Télévisions to sublicense coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing and the Paris 2024 Olympics for free-to-air television throughout the country. Dedicated streams covering every sport, event and gold medal will be available, Discovery said, while the company and Eurosport vowed to help promote the 2024 Olympic Games in the French capital.
 
On to the NFL Draft, CBS Sports HQ tackles the event leading into and throughout all seven rounds. CBS Sports HQ’s coverage will be anchored from the Dawg House Saloon in Nashville and will feature real-time reactions and commentary from the Pick Six podcast team, grades for every pick, and early fantasy football projections. In addition, CBS Sports HQ will give fans a taste of Nashville’s musical flavor by featuring original, real-time country. Beginning at 7p on Thursday and continuing through each round, CBS Sports HQ will offer extensive analysis and news updates. Kanell, Will Brinson, Jamey Eisenberg, Bryant McFadden, John Breech, and Barton Simmons will lead the coverage.
 
Meanwhile, SiriusXM will provide listeners nationwide with comprehensive coverage of the 2019 NFL Draft, with live coverage of every selection from every round, as well as four days of special programming, anchored by SiriusXM NFL. The Undefeated, ESPN’s content initiative focusing on the intersections of sports, race and culture, signed a multi-year contract extension with senior NBA writer Marc Spears to continue to serve as the platform’s lead journalist covering the NBA. “Marc is one of ESPN’s most valuable reporters, and indispensable to The Undefeated,” said Kevin Merida, Senior Vice President, ESPN, and Editor-in-Chief of The Undefeated. “The combination of his deep knowledge of the NBA and relationships with players has produced a countless number of original stories.
