Good morning. It’s Wednesday June 5, 2019 and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

Kevin Warren, a trailblazer in the ranks of pro football, will soon leave his mark on college sports. The Big Ten Conference introduced the Minnesota Vikings COO as its new commissioner, making him the first African-American to hold that position for the NCAA's oldest Division I conference. In his new job, Warren becomes the Big Ten’s sixth commissioner and the first African-American to head one of college sports’ Power 5 conferences. Warren, 55, will succeed Jim Delany, who has been the Big Ten commissioner since 1989. Warren begins his new role on Sept. 16. Delany will officially step down on Jan. 1, 2020, following a 30-year career with the conference.
A member of the Vikings for the past 20 years, the last four as COO, Warren has been the highest-ranking African-American executive working on the business side for an NFL team and the first African-American to hold that position in the pro football league. “To have an opportunity to lead the Big Ten Conference, and follow in the shoes of Jim Delany is truly an honor," Warren said at his introductory press event at the conference’s headquarters in Rosemont, Ill. “I'm ready for the challenge. I'm excited. I'm energized. But most of all, I'm grateful.”

The St. Louis Blues’ series tying victory over the Boston Bruins in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final netted nearly 5.25 million Total Audience Delivery viewers, making the contest the third-most-watched Game 4 on record. St. Louis and Boston were the top markets with 28.0 and 26.0 ratings, respectively, followed by a 19.7 in Providence, a 9.8 in Buffalo and a 5.2 in Kansas City.

Univision/UDN telecast of Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League final averaged 1.4 million watchers June 1, including 732,000 adults 18-to-49 viewers.
