Bleacher Report announced a new slate of sponsors that will spotlight the U.S. Women's National Teams and showcase the personalities of the stars playing in France. The lineup will include content features that pair blue chip brands with some of the sport’s biggest names: Adidas with Morgan Bryan; Body Armor with Megan Rapinoe; Umbro with Ashlyn Harris; and AT&T with Tierna Davidson. The plan is to roll out content pieces throughout the Cup that will attract Bleacher Report's audience of Gen Z and Millennial sports fans. They will be supported with cross-channel promotion and distribution on Bleacher Report's House of Highlights, reaching more than 13 million Instagram followers. Other sponsors on board for Women's World Cup include Powerade, Hulu, Nike, Volkswagen, Fox Sports and Playstation.
DIGITAL AND STREAMING
FOX Sports will be offering all 52 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France matches in 4k. This is the first time 4K content will be offered in the FOX Sports App, and the 4K content will also be available on select MVPDs (Fubo, DirecTV and others).
ESPORTS
ESPN has created EXP, an event series featuring esports competitions at ESPN-owned events. Through a collaboration with Electronic Arts, Apex Legends will continue the series, which kicked off in May at the first-ever Collegiate Esports Championship, at two ESPN events this summer: the 2019 ESPYS and X Games Minneapolis 2019. EXP competitions will be a mix of professional, collegiate and pro-am formats, with multiple game IP and genres featured across the series. Live event distribution will be via multiple digital platforms including the ESPN app, and a tape-delayed show focused on key moments. The storylines will debut across ESPN/ABC linear networks after each event.
Capcom’s mid-season finals for the inaugural season of Street Fighter League Pro: US 2019 will be held Friday, June 28 at 5:00, PDT at CEO. The Street Fighter League: Pro-US 2019 Mid-Season Final is the culmination of a double round robin tournament series featuring six teams and spanning 10 weeks of action. For the mid-season final, four teams will battle for a prize pool worth $57,000, with the top team taking $30,000. Second place will be awarded $15,000 and both third place teams will be awarded $6,000. Additionally, the two top teams will move to Season 2, where they will be joined by four new freshman teams.
WorldGaming Network announced the start of its second annual Rocket League esports tournament. Teams of three from the USA and Canada can now register for the Rocket League WGN North American Championship, a tournament that has more than $20,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. The winner will receive $10,000 and will be awarded a spot to compete in the Rocket League Pro Circuit at Dreamhack Montreal.
ESP Gaming has rebranded to Estars Studios, with the goal of aligning with sister company Estars, an esports engagement platform. It will continue to deliver production for esports events and content.
The Philadelphia 76ers-owned esports organization Dignitas has merged with Houston Rockets-owned Clutch Gaming. It is believed to be the first merger of two NBA-owned esports franchises.
