US Figure Skating and opendorse announced a strategic partnership that makes US Figure Skating the first Olympic national governing body to help its athletes build their brands and sport on social. The athlete marketing platform will provide nearly 60 U.S. figure skaters with access to share content from US Figure Skating.
Ahead of the US Open, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens and other world-renowned tennis players will be attending Citi Taste of Tennis in NYC tonight. Stephens will be part of a cooking demonstration with Iron Chef Morimoto. Sports nutrition company, BioSteel Sports Nutrition Inc. announced that 2018 MLB All-Star second baseman Gleyber Torres has been tapped to help lead the company’s marketing efforts in the US. Torres is the latest addition to a group of Team BioSteel athletes that include NHL star Connor McDavid, NFL All-Pro Ezekiel Elliott and former NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins.

The NCAA is closing the door on the RPI. The org announced Wednesday that it has developed the NCAA Evaluation Tool, known as NET, that will replace the controversial ranking system as the primary sorting tool for teams under consideration for the NCAA tournament. NET will consider factors such as game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, offensive and defensive efficiency and the quality of wins and losses as part of its results. NET rankings will be publicly available later this year.
Sunday night will now be Sneaker Night on Facebook Watch, as the platform will be the home for two new sneaker-related programs, titled Kickasso and Sneaker Hustle. The shows center on “influential members of sneaker culture and aim to bring the sneakerhead community together to enjoy and discuss some of the hottest kicks,” according to the announcement. Kickasso will be a six-episode series, following sneaker designer Tony Cole as he transforms sneakers into works of wearable art for clientele ranging from Olympian Gabby Douglas to NBA superstar Chris Bosh. Sneaker Hustle follows 20-year-old Chase Reed, the ultimate wheeler-dealer for sneakers, over the course of eight episodes.
